Description: A symbol of Africans’ resistance against colonial masters. In 1915 led by Rev. John Chilembwe against issues of Thangata (forced labour), African participation in the First World War, and acquisition of land by the Whites. Site of John Chilembwe's Church, demolished in 1915 after the uprising he led. Rebuilt in 1926 by Rev D.S.Malikebu.
